Course Location: This course is taught at both the Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center as well as our on-site pool located at the shop in California, MD. This is a pool only experience.
Course Fee: $50.00
The course fee includes pool entry, all gear with exception of mask and fins, and about 2-3 hours of instruction / pool time. This is NOT a certification course, only a "try-it" experience. Should you decide to continue on and get certified by taking the full sidemount course, providing you sign up for a full course within 3 months of taking this course, we will credit this course fee towards the full certification fee.

Our exclusive Discover Sidemount Course is designed to give divers the opportunity to try sidemount in a confined water setting with one of our highly trained sidemount instructors. If you find that sidemount diving is for you; Southern Maryland Divers offers the opportunity to take what you have learned in Discover Sidemount – and roll that right into the full PADI Sidemount Diver course.
In the Discover Sidemount Diver course; you will learn the basics of rigging sidemount tanks; Sidemount BCD use; basic sidemount diver safety considerations such as regulator switching underwater, gas management techniques and regulator shutdown; and entry and exit techniques that are unique to sidemount diving.
And the best part of Southern Maryland Divers Discover Sidemount Diver course – if you decide you want to complete the full PADI Sidemount Diver course and sign up for a full course within 3 months, we will credit this courses fee towards your full course fee saving you money.
Prerequisites for the Southern Maryland Divers Discover Sidemount Diver course are certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization; and at least 15 years of age.
